Nathan Haberman, DA As your elected District Attorney, I am proud to represent the citizens of Wisconsin and the citizens of Calumet County in the criminal justice process.

I am dedicated to safeguarding the rights of all members of the community and upholding the rule of law through vigorous prosecution of criminal offenders. I will ensure that my office is committed to protecting the citizens of Calumet County and holding offenders accountable for their actions.

My focus is to advocate for victims to ensure that victims of crimes are treated with sensitivity, fairness, dignity, compassion and respect. It is of paramount concern that victims have a voice and their voice is heard.

Positions Details and Application Process

District Attorney Responsibilities
The office consists of the elected District Attorney, one Assistant District Attorney, and three legal assistants. The entire staff is committed to fulfilling their roles in a professional and efficient manner.

It is the primary responsibility of the District Attorney to prosecute individuals who commit crimes. The District Attorney represents the State of Wisconsin and Calumet County in the prosecution of felony, misdemeanor, criminal traffic crimes, juvenile delinquency and non-criminal traffic and ordinance citations.

The office works directly with law enforcement agencies that serve Calumet County citizens to ensure the effective, efficient and fair enforcement of the law. These agencies include:
  • Calumet County Sheriff’s Office
  • Appleton Police Department
  • Brillion Police Department
  • Chilton Police Department
  • Kiel Police Department
  • Menasha Police Department
  • New Holstein Police Department
  • Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources
  • Wisconsin State Patrol

The District Attorney assists law enforcement agencies by providing training on various aspects of criminal law and procedure. Routinely, law enforcement agencies consult with the District Attorney for legal advice regarding appropriate courses of action in criminal investigations. Referrals made by law enforcement agencies are reviewed and the office determines the appropriate criminal charges to file.

The District Attorney also operates the Victim/Witness Assistance Program which provides support to victims and witnesses of crime. The program provides direct services to crime victims and witnesses by ensuring that they are treated with sensitivity, fairness, dignity, compassion and respect. The Victim/Witness Assistance Program ensures that the rights of victims and witnesses are honored and protected, as outlined in Wisconsin Statutory Chapter 950.”
