Public involvement meeting set for proposed work on WIS 114/WIS 55 in Calumet County 

Meeting outlines proposed highway construction from Harrison to Sherwood

 (Calumet County) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region announces a public involvement meeting for proposed work on WIS 114/55 from US 10 in the village of Harrison to the south junction of the WIS 114/55 split in the village of Sherwood in Calumet County. The meeting will be held Monday, April 8, 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the village of Sherwood Community Center, W489 Clifton Road, Sherwood, Wis. There will be a short presentation at 5:15 p.m. followed by an open-house meeting format.

A reconditioning-level improvement is proposed for WIS 114/55 from US 10 to Castle Drive. A resurfacing-level improvement is proposed from Castle Drive to the south junction split. Other proposed work includes intersection and roadway geometric improvements, shoulder widening, rumble strips, curb ramp improvements, and miscellaneous curb and gutter repair. A detour is anticipated during construction. Work is currently scheduled for 2023 but may take place as early as 2022.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meeting to review proposed project details, displays and exhibits, ask questions, and provide comment that may assist WisDOT during project design. WisDOT staff will also be available to discuss the project on an individual basis.

CALUMET COUNTY


US 10 Resurfacing

Location/limits: US 10 from WIS 114 in the city of Menasha to WIS 32/57 in the town of Forrest Junction

Length of project: 8.8 miles

Construction schedule: August 2019 to September 2019

Description of work: Work consists of milling and overlaying the existing asphaltic surface of US 10 in the project limits. This includes the roundabout at the US 10 and County N intersection. The roundabouts at US 10/WIS 55 and US 10/WIS 32/57 are not included in the project limits. The paved shoulders will be widened from three feet to five feet, and centerline and shoulder rumble strips will be applied to the new pavement surface.

Traffic Impacts: A short-term detour (up to two weeks) will be posted during resurfacing at the US 10/County N roundabout. For the remainder of the project, US 10 will remain open to traffic. Temporary single-lane closures with flaggers will be utilized during daylight hours during construction operations. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.

Detour: US 10 will be detoured via WIS 114 and WIS 55. County N will be detoured via WIS 114, WIS 55 and County KK.

WIS 114 Resurfacing

Location/limits: WIS 114 from WIS 55 in the village of Sherwood to WIS 32/57 in the village of Hilbert

Length of project: 6.4 miles

Construction schedule: August 2019 to September 2019

Description of work: Work includes milling and overlaying the existing asphaltic surface. Centerline and shoulder rumble strips will be applied to the new pavement surface.

Traffic Impacts: WIS 114 will remain open to traffic. Work will be conducted under temporary single-lane closures with flagging operations. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.

CALUMET AND MANITOWOC COUNTIES

 

US 151 Resurfacing

Location/limits: US 151 from WIS 67 to Industrial Drive in the city of Chilton

Length of project: 5.6 miles

Construction schedule: August 2019 to September 2019

Description of work: Work includes milling and overlaying the existing asphaltic surface, replacing cross-culvert pipes, and improving the railroad crossing surface east of Chilton. The paved shoulders will be widened from three feet to five feet, and centerline and shoulder rumble strips will be applied to the new pavement surface.

Traffic Impacts: A short-term detour (less than two weeks) will be posted during the replacement of the cross-culvert pipes and railroad crossing work. For the remainder of the project, US 151 will remain open to traffic. Work will be conducted under temporary single lane closures with flagging operations. Access to properties will be maintained at all times.
