Lyme Disease
Symptoms
Lyme disease is caused by a bacteria transmitted to humans by the bite of infected deer ticks. Typical symptoms include fever, headache, fatigue, and a rash that looks like a target or bull's-eye.

If left untreated, infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system. Lyme disease has been found in every county in Wisconsin. Public health promotes education and prevention measures to keep people safe from tick exposure.
