Town Group Testing
Why Participate in a Group Testing Event?
A private well should be sampled annually for bacteria at a minimum.  A group testing event provides the annual opportunity (and reminder) to “check up” on your homes drinking water supply.  Benefits of participating include bottle pick up & drop off convenience, reduced pricing for group testing participants and an education night held about 5 weeks after the event.  The education night is an opportunity to learn how to read your results, as well as how to resolve any problems with your water, including plumbing, proper well maintenance and at home-practices to improve your drinking water.  

Tests Available (only during a group testing event)
  • Homeowner’s Package: $49
    • Includes: coliform bacteria, nitrates, pH, alkalinity, hardness, chlorides, conductivity, and corrosivity index
  • Metals Package: $49
    • Includes: arsenic, calcium, copper, iron, lead, magnesium, manganese, potassium, sodium, sulfate, and zinc
  • DACT Screen: $27
    • For Atrazine pesticides (only recommended if nitrates are high)
  • Group Testing Package: $117
    • All 3 above: homeowner’s package, metals package, and DACT

How to Participate 
If you would like participate in a group testing event, please click here to be placed on an annual mailing list.  A mailing will go out 6 weeks prior to the testing date.  Pre-registration is recommended to reserve a kit.

March 27th, 2017 - County-wide targeting Harrison and Brillion

  • March 22nd - 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Brillion Town Hall (Hwy 10 and Randolph St)
  • March 23rd - 6:00pm - 8:00pm, Harrison Municipal Building (W5298 Hwy 114)
  • March 22nd - 9:00am - 4:30pm, Room 222C in Calumet County Courthouse

Sample Return
  • March 27th - all 3 locations
  • Calumet County Courthouse:  9:00am – 4:00pm
  • Brillion Town Hall:  6:00pm - 8:00pm
  • Harrison Municipal Building:  6:00pm - 8:00pm

Education night 
  • Will be scheduled for some time in May, where results will be available.


June 6, 2017 - TOWN OF CHILTON Only
  • Kit Pick Up:  TBA, Week of May 29th.

2016 Group Testing Results

Groundwater is an important source of drinking water and private wells serve most residents in Calumet County.  It is important to know the quality of your drinking water by testing on an annual basis for bacteria and nitrates - at a minimum.  Benefits of participating include bottle pick up & drop off convenience, reduced pricing for group testing participants and an education night held in July.  The education night is an opportunity to learn how to read your results, as well as how to resolve any problems with your water, including plumbing, proper well maintenance and at home-practices to improve your drinking water.  

In June of 2016, 165 samples were collected from 162 wells.  Below are the results for three parameters; Coliform Bacteria, Nitrate, and Arsenic.

Other Parameters Tested:   Calcium, Copper, Iron, Potassium, Magnesium, Manganese, Sodium, Lead, Sulfate, Zinc, pH, Conductivity, Alkalinity, Total Hardness, Chloride, Diaminochlorotraizine (DACT)
