Emergency Response
Public Health is a lead agency for directing and coordinating health and medical responses during emergencies and disasters within the county. They do so by working closely with the Red Cross, Salvation Army, United Way, area hospitals, medical providers, and first responders (emergency medical services, fire / rescue, emergency management, and law enforcement) to ensure emergency / disaster response plans are coordinated and practiced.

Emergency Services
Public Health services during emergencies and disasters include:
  • Assisting in the coordination of mass casualty treatment in partnership with EMS and hospitals
  • Disease control
  • Food and water safety
  • Providing Public Health information
  • Radiological and biological response
