Land Information Office
The Land Information Office (LIO) is the coordinating office for all land records activity in Calumet County.  Its staff includes the Land Information Officer, the GIS Administrator, and the Real Property Lister.  The LIO administers the development and maintenance of the countywide geographic information system (GIS) for use by the county departments, local municipalities, utilities, the private sector, and the general public. Other programs maintained by the Land Information Office include land records modernization, rural road numbering, parcel mapping and E911 data.

What is GIS?
A geographic information system (GIS) is a complex collection of data, software, hardware and people that is designed for the collection, maintenance, analysis and display of geographic information.  Information can be displayed using traditional hardcopy maps, along with spreadsheets, workflows, graphs and metadata – to name a few.  It can also be displayed using more advanced methods such as digital and animated maps. 

GIS is used by Calumet County for everything from Smart Growth Planning to land records maintenance to facilities maintenance.

Land Records Modernization Plan

The Calumet County Land Records Modernization Plan is a document that outlines the LIO’s planned projects for the next five years.  The plan is updated in accordance with the Wisconsin Department of Administration rules and is published on their website as well as here.  The goal of the plan is to ensure Calumet County is moving forward in accordance with the foundational elements developed by the land information community.

How is the Data Disseminated?

Calumet County has made much of its data available to the public as either hard copy or digital data.  Please contact the Land Information Office for a list of the data available, a short description, the tiling scheme, the format, and the price.  To purchase any listed data or maps please print the License Agreement, fill it out and mail it to the Calumet County Planning Department.
