“County Health Rankings & Roadmaps”

The “County Health Rankings & Roadmaps” report has been released. The rankings, being released on March 25, 2015 are a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute (UWPHI). The data allow each state to see how its counties compare on 30 factors that impact health, such as education, transportation, housing, violent crime, jobs, diet and exercise. The overall rankings in “Health Outcomes” represent how healthy counties are within the state. The ranks are based on two types of measures: how long people live and how healthy people feel while alive. The overall rankings in “Health Factors” represent what influences the health of a county. They are an estimate of the future health of counties as compared to other counties within a state. The ranks are based on four types of measures: health behaviors, clinical care, social and economic, and physical environment factors. Of Wisconsin’s 72 counties Calumet County ranked 3rd highest in the State for “Health Outcomes” and 5th highest in the State for “Health Factors”. The report can be found at www.countyhealthrankings.org and the link below provides access to Wisconsin County’s interactive rankings map and more detailed information on the individual factors used to derive the overall rankings.
